The title of this post is the first thing Geoff said to me when I first met him in September 2010.
Geoff is kind, sharp, genuine, appreciative, and inspirational. One of the most personable celebrities I’ve ever met.
Happy birthday, Geoff Ramsey. Stay awesome.
Anonymous said: do you have any tips for someone who has pretty bad anxiety on meeting their idols and not acting freakish? (aka at rtx or other events) i'm nervous and i just want to make a good impression and yeah
At the risk of coming across as insensitive (my anxiety is based off of a completely different factor; I am not a professional): Don’t worry.
I know…easier said than done.
RT LOVES their fans. Out of all of the celebrities I have met in my life, RT are some of the most personable and grateful people in the world of entertainment.
Believe me when I say that as long as you are kind and not a physically personified youtube comment, you’ll be fine.
Geoff told a story on the podcast (back when it was the Drunk Tank) and gave me the drunken version personally a few years back (after we both cried over Red vs Blue Season 8 finale)…he skipped school to meet a basketball player that he was a total fan of. When he met the player, he poured out his heart and appreciation…the player never even looked up to face Geoff…was far from grateful…practically ignored him. Geoff was heartbroken to say the least. At that moment, Geoff vowed to never be like that and carries that believe to this day.
I’ve worked with these guys at PAX Prime for 2 years, have been to EVERY RTX, and have been a Guardian for 3 years.
I promise you that they love YOU because you are a fan. YOU are one of the reasons why they exist and they are extremely grateful for YOU.
The other most personable celebrities I’ve met: VOICE ACTORS The most amazing hug I’ve ever received was from Rob Paulsen. Again, a guy who LOVES and APPRECIATES his fans. Most celebrities do. There are a few who couldn’t care less (or seem that way; maybe they don’t know how to react in real life), but never let that stop you from gushing. Most celebs appreciate it…are humbled by it…and it keeps them motivated.
Hope that makes sense <3
And, if you end up at RTX and you see me…come and say HI! <3
